Up for the Year, Down for the decade

Anticipating that the world economy is going to recover, stock markets have risen in spectacular fashion. The U.S. S&P500 rose 20 pct. Nevertheless, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 8 pct for the decade. Hong Kong's Hang Seng stock index is up 0.37 pct. China's Shanghai Composite Index is down 1.44 pct, India's Sensex stock index is up 0.71 pct, and Japan's Nikkei stock index is up 0.82. Brazil's Bovespa stock index is up 0.45 pct. Mexico's IPC index is up 0.32 pct, Argentina's Merval stock index is up 0.56 pct, and the UK's FTSE index is up 1.06 pct. Germany's DAX stock index is up 0.74 pct. France's Cac-40 is up 1.04 pct.
